The beautiful woman put her slim, black rimmed glasses on and put her hair into a neat bun and stepped out of her apartment with a chic business suit complete with the high waist and knee length skirt.
Who was she?
People know her as Rachel Lee.
What is her real name?
Cappus. Last name: N/A
Cappus is part of a mercenary group with international interests and today was corporate espionage. She was a consultant pulled in from a PR firm that one of the top technology manufacturers had requested for this occasion. The company had been experimenting using human emotions to power certain weapons and it was possible that this company had succeeded in a driver that was able to use human brain electrodes to understand commands.
“Miss! Your car is waiting.” a gentleman in a black suit called to her. He was wearing black sunglasses, she couldn’t see his eyes, his hands were slightly scarred, and calloused…from holding a gun.
“I didn’t order a car.” she began to walk away.
“Ma’am your safety is our company’s top priority. Please get in the car. I am to escort you to the meeting time and place of the experiment.”
“Very well.” Rachel sighed. She was a bored girl who was only excited at the sight of guns, which made this trip very boring for her, but the end result would be interesting. She couldn’t wait to see things being blown up. This was her persona, so she had to stick with it.
“You seem restless ma’am.” the man said. He had gotten into the car after her, apparently there was a chauffeur.
“I don’t much fancy long drives.” Rachel said in a Manchester accent.
“So what is it that you do fancy?” he asked amusingly.
“Do you know what it is that we are seeing today?”
“N-“
“It is the latest in weapon’s technology, it will decide the future of wars and countries. Guns. That is what I fancy and that is why I am the consultant for this little excursion. Please don’t think that men mean anything to me. Relationships with guns are always more reassuring. Either kill or get killed.” Rachel said, shifting her gaze at the man, one eye pierced through, while the other eye was hidden in a ray of sunlight.
The man breathed heavily and looked the opposite direction.
Cappus observed the ruffles on his blazer, there were two guns in holsters, and he probably had one on his leg somewhere, but there was one attached on the inside of his crisp white shirt. This man was no regular bodyguard, he probably knew that she had several guns hiding on her too. What he didn’t know was that she also had a tranquilizer on her and she was ready to use it in a moments notice.
Her thoughts then sped to the weapons that the company had called her to. Her real mission was to destroy the machine and destroy all the data. Her mercenary group had already been developing the same technology, except that they had not sacrificed human guinea pigs in the making of the weapon. This company was just sick, the technology would destroy the world while only a few people would control power. She was a part of the good guys after all.
Soon, they left the city and urban landscapes gave way to green trees. A fenced off forest showed up not long after and the car came to a slow brake and men with guns approached the car. Rachel’s body guard spoke to them in Japanese and the door opened. Rachel’s brief case was tossed out and quickly inspected, next a body search, passed and with no hitch.
“I have to apologize for this intrusion.” a voice from behind said. An obese man with armed guards walked forward, in his face a huge smile that was filled with pearly, white teeth. “But you must understand the secrecy of this little thing. Now please follow me and you will see, please do be blunt and add what you think we should add or take off from our developing product.”
Developing? Odd choice of words.
There was a hallway that led to the doors and windows that peered into rooms filled with vials and scientists on computers, microscopes. A biological weapon? What about all the reports she had seen from these people? They had never mentioned anything involving viruses.
“I see that you are surprised. You see, the reports that you saw were some modifications to the true research we were doing. Please do not be offended, but we had to trust your resources and you as well so we tested you for this whole month. You passed with flying colors! I was very pleased with how clean of a person you are.”
“If it was a peep show you were seeking, you should have asked.” Rachel said coldly.
” I am sorry Miss Rachel. But this is a delicate situation, please don’t be too offended. When you see what it is that we are truly developing, then you will appreciate our roundabout way of doing things. Herald! Get the cart, its time we went to the Room.” the lurking assistant stepped out of the shadows with a golf cart and they quickly sped to a more remote part of the facilities.
“This place seems to be more like a place to live rather than facilities. How many people do you have working under you exactly?”
“All will be answered in due time Miss. Please do not rush the surprise! Hahahaha!” he said laughing.
This is bad, this is really bad, I don’t have a good feeling about this at all. I have to tell HQ before its too late.
The cart slowly came to a halt at a huge house-like structure. The outsides were rusting, despite all this, the inside was clean the walls were wiped down periodically and the white linoleum floor was shiny to a glow. Facilities manufacturing a weapon should not be this clean unless working with biohazards. They walked down a narrow hallway and then came to the only door in the hallway and then the old man opened the door with a greedy gleeful look on his face and stepped into a darker room.
The room had computers and generators, people working vigorously, a tall lanky man in a white lab coat was staring at the window. The room had one table on it and inside sat a man with a metal head gear on, his skin was pale white, healed scars littered his wrists and inside elbow. He had been subjected to dozens of experiments and had never seen the sun, the poor man’s face was enclosed with the metal helmet. This scene was straight out from science fiction novels and comics, but then again, those stories had never been far fetched to begin with.
“What is he supposed to do?”
“Sit and watch please!”
The man turned towards the window and in that instant Cappus felt a wave hit her mind.
They are going to kill us. You have to help me escape. I have been imprisoned so long, you have a good heart, please if you are not here to rescue me then kill me, dying is better than living for these people. Please, I can’t do this anymore! Please! My name is T. There were twenty-six of us that they experimented on and I am the only one to have survived.
Rachel collapsed to the floor.
“Did you see that! There was a spike in brain waves! He was communicating with someone! Rachel! What did he say!? We’ve only been able to get garbled messages from him, surely a woman would be better to receive this message!? That is one of the reasons I brought you here! So tell us, what did he say??”
Rachel coughed, choking on saliva that was spitting out of her mouth, was this side effect of the brainwaves meshing? “He said, nothing. The message was incoherent, but it felt like someone was splitting my brain open, my world warped and I think I lost consciousness.”
“Hmph, what a useless man! He was the only one to have survived! Damn it! Refine him some more will you doctor? I am not paying you to stare at him!”
“Miss, please follow me, I will treat you like the others.” The doctor said kindly gripping onto her arm and escorting her out. “She will have to rest for a few hours sir, at that time, I don’t think that she needs a body guard. Some privacy for such an ordeal you just put her through.”
“Herald, tell the other men to wait outside. Doctor, fix this damn issue, or I’ll just have to remove you like the others, don’t forget that.”
“Yes, Yes I know.”
They left the dark room and went into another room. As soon as the doctor shut the door, Cappus pointed a gun at him. He stared at her unflinchingly.
“I am taking him and myself out of here, you are going to tell me how.”
“Good. I am done with this sick place, I don’t care what happens to me after all this, it would be better than what I have been forced to do and subjected to watch.”
“How can I trust you?”
“Well, I knew that you were lying about not understanding his message. But I hid that from everyone else. I could have said that you were lying and you would have been killed on the spot.”
“How did you know that?”
“For the brief moment that you two shared a mind communication link, yours and his brain wave shaped to fit each other perfectly. He heard your thoughts and vice versa. Its not mind reading, but mind sharing, each person has a similar wave link, but each is unique as well. He was able to figure that out and share a direct link to your mind. I was monitoring everyone’s brain waves when I saw it happen. This can only happen to females, males and males cannot share the same brain wave for some reason, it may have something to do with the drugs or possibly that he does not trust a man’s cold touch but a woman’s warm embrace. Interesting isn’t it?”
“Maybe you’ve been in this place for too long, because you sound just as sick as those men out there.”
“Haha, you got jokes. I am going to leave you in this room, be ready to climb the ventilation system, and you will be able to reach his room. I will create a short diversion and turn off the lights, in that moment, grab the man and go back into the ventilation system. There is huge central power that if you follow the ventilation, you will come to a giant room where the system should be. It will be a short climb to the roof. I am assuming you brought reinforcements?”
“If you want out of this as well doc, then be ready on the roof in fifteen minutes.”
“My my, you are confident miss.”
“Hurry.”
The door closed behind the doctor. Voices were talking behind the door. Cappus quickly took off her clothes, underneath the suit had been her multipurpose jump suit. It was armored around the shoulders and thighs, the suit had been made to fit the shape of her well exercised body. She slipped on her gloves and pulled out long socks hidden underneath the soles of her heels. She climbed the bench and opend the ventilation door. This place was no joke, there was hardly any dust at all inside, it was squeaky clean. She crawled to the next ventilation window and peered into the control room that was still observing the man. She kept her mind as blank as she could, she did not want the computer systems catching her brain waves a second time.
“The lights! Oh no! What happened!?! Damn it!” the old man bellowed.
Cappus crawled into the next ventilation system and kicked the window open. She jumped down and reach out her hand to the man, trying to feel her way through the darkness. A cold hand grabbed ahold of her’s she took it and yanked the man to her. He tumbled forward and the head gear with it. Cappus took it off quickly and hoisted him into the ventilation system, then she followed suit. She didn’t know how she was able to do it, its not like he had been that light, but she felt that he had almost floated up there. Cappus shook her head and concentrated in getting out of the place.
“Hey you! T!” Cappus whispered. “Go straight ahead! I have a helicopter waiting to drop down for us! You got ten minutes to reach that point!”
There was no nod or acknowledgement, but he moved quickly, his body was thin and wiry, there were weak muscles and thin skin, all the signs of a lab rat.
“Where did he go!?!? Damn it!” the echo of the old man came streaming through the ventilation system. “Get them! Get them now!”
“Yessir!”
Cappus pushed the man in front of her to hurry, then they came to another window that peered into a hot room. This was the room where the generator was at. It was huge generator, across the room Cappus saw staircases and a door that could lead to the roof. She put a finger on her lips and then pointed at the door at the other end. This is when she got a good look at T.
Gray hollow eyes, a prominent nose bridge, full lips and a face structure that could have been handsome but was almost childish, his hair sleek and long, he looked voided of human emotion. He also needed a shave.
Cappus kicked the screen and peered down, there was a way to get across, but she had to do it quickly. She turned to T who stared at her. She grabbed his collar and threw him down, he landed semi-nimbly, she followed after him. He started running to the other side, but a gun shot stopped him in the middle of the rail.
“Miss Rachel! If that is your real name, I would like to engage in a one on one battle with you!”
Cappus located the source of the shooter and aimed her 9mm at the odd shadow and took her shot. She was not going to give a snarky remark, which was only for movies and video games; reality hardly called upon such scripted lines. She looked over her shoulder and saw T running towards the door, she followed suit, hand still cocked in her hand. They both climbed the stairs and T opened the door.
Sunlight.
T was overjoyed with happiness, there was so much sun! the air was magical, the green of the trees was breathtaking. He turned around to see his savior and noted her beauty. He was so thankful. He heard a helicopter and turned around, there was an unmarked chopter, Cappus came around and grabbed his forearm and rushed to the helicopter.
“LET’S MOVE PEOPLE.” She yelled.
As they slowly ascended bullets began to shower them from below. T stared below and the bullets stopped, there was only the yelling and screaming of men, then there was no sound.
Cappus stared at him, “what did you do?”
“I split their minds apart. Its my farewell to them. I have one more present for the CEO bastard, let’s see if that coward comes out.” Just as they said that, Cappus saw the man run out of the door they had originally entered from. He was yelling and steaming, then all of a sudden he collapsed. “Ok, good, he wont be coming out of his coma any time soon.”
“Damien, where’s the doctor? There was supposed to be a doctor waiting for us up here too.”
An African man with dark, shining skin held out his hand. It was a disk. “He left this behind and ran back into the building, he didn’t want to go with us, something about atoning for his actions.”
“That idiot, he is going to die.”
“Actually…he said that he knew what to do and to get out of range within two miles.”
“What!?! Is he planning on blowing the facility up?!”
“I don’t know but he doesn’t care and neither should we! By the way…who is this guy?”
“T. The letter T.”
T turned to look at Cappus and then closed his eyes. For this brief moment, he knew that he didn’t have to be afraid anymore, he just wanted to enjoy the sun.
